Why Sports

As one of the central pillars of an Inspired education, an engaging and challenging sports and athletics programme is at the core of a holistic learning experience. Participation in a sports program allows students to learn about healthy lifestyles, make friends, and develop necessary life skills, such as perseverance, collaboration, teamwork, critical thinking, leadership, and ethics. This gives learners confidence which emanates into other areas of their lives.

Sport at EIS

Our sports programme provides exciting opportunities and exposure to a wide range of sports, for students of all ages and abilities. Over 30 teams represent EIS each year in SISAC (Saigon International School Athletic Conference) competitions. EIS Orcas compete in Soccer, Volleyball, Swimming, Basketball, Badminton, Track and Field, and Cross-Country competitions from the U11 level up to U19 level – and when possible our teams travel internationally to compete against schools from other countries.

Facilities

EIS students enjoy access to excellent sporting facilities on campus including two volleyball courts and a 25-metre swimming pool (featuring an in-built hi-tech heating system).

Off-campus facilities are utilised for football and basketball training.

Head of Sport

Kevin Alburo

Kevin Alburo brings a wealth of experience and passion to his role as Head of Sports at EIS. With over 11 years of experience teaching physical education and coaching school sports teams, Kevin has made a lasting impact on student-athletes across multiple international schools. Before joining EIS, he held leadership positions as Head of Physical Education and Sports in schools in Thailand.

A former coach of the Orcas swim team, Kevin’s main sporting disciplines are volleyball and swimming - two areas he continues to champion through the school’s growing athletics program.

Originally from the Philippines, Kevin graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, majoring in Physical Education. He holds a Master’s in Leadership from Moreland University, USA and a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from the Harvard University Online School of Education.
